Difference of Condition

In the Jefferson reading he talks about something called a difference of condition. This condition of color is what separates us according to him. Do you feel as if Jefferson’s view that hate will still exist unless one of the races was wiped out has lead to a battle of racial superiority? Jefferson states that African Americans are better at music and white people are more capable of love. Do you feel as if these differences of condition are stereotypes and if so where do they come from? Do you believe these differences lead to a negative view of a particular race?

I agree with what Jello said. This is completely wrong. Hatred for another race is learned. And I believe that just saying that one race is better at loving than another, or music, or whatever is totally racist itself. I don't agree at all with Jefferson's view. The world has come a long way with racism, yet it still has a long way to go.

I agree with the others. Just because one race is gone, doesn't mean hate will disappear. I think that if every race but one was gone we would just find something else to hate, whether it is hair color, the way one dresses, or whatever else. I also disagree with Jefferson's idea of a race being better at something. I believe it is on an individual basis, not your race.

Of course the hate will go away when one race is wiped out. The thing is that the hate will just leach onto another group or race and in the end the hate for others wont go away but the hate for the initial group will go away. Anyways, the differences he states are obvious stereotypes its just like saying just because this person is asian they do not know how to drive just because you say it doesnt make it so.
