According to Press torture is wrong in all cases and scenarios, do you agree with him?
Or do agree with others who think that in some cases where information is vital to save lives, such as the Al Queda captive Mohammed. Is torture okay in those cases? Which one of those two ideas to you agree with and why?

I think torturing a prisoner in a regular prison in the united states is wrong but torturing a terrorist is different. If we captured a terrorist he is not going to tell us what we want if we just ask him. If we didn't torture the terrorists we wouldn't know some of the stuff we do today. There have been many attacks we have found out about and stopped before they happened. Just think terrorists will do whatever they can to kill thousands or millions of people no questions asked. If they captured an american soldier they would probably do way worse to him or even kill him.
I think it is ok to tortue in some cases. If we get vital information that will help protect our country, then tortue is ok. It also really depends on what kind of tortue it is because there are many different forms of tortue. I strongly disagree in most cases but in some, it is necessary.
I DISAGREE WITH TORTURE in any shape or form. Mainly because it's cruel. I heard that their is a drug that they can give you to make you tell the truth and If that drug exist then why not just use that. I think that America has to many options to choose from and that for a powerful and resourceful country like us to result to such an ancient way of things is crazy.
I think that torturing a prisoner in the US is wrong, but I agree that torturing a terrorist is definitely a different story. If an American soldier is captured they will most likely be tortured or killed. So why not do the same to them as they do to us? If we need to find out some important information and the terrorist knows something, why not torture him to get him to tell what he knows.
I think that torture in any shape or form is just plain wrong. Regardless of whether or not the person is a terrorist or not there have to be better alternatives. How is hurting someone else in order to gain what you want an acceptable practice. If we are torturing terrorists then we have just stooped down to their level of cruelty. The reading even mentioned that torturing did not help because most of the time the victim lies to stop the pain. The idea sickens me that some people think it's ok that if the torture is done outside of our country it's ok. What kind of example are we setting for the rest of the world to follow?
I feel torture can be very wrong. But in a case where terrorism is involved with inoccent people are it could become necessary. Like for exapmple September 11th, if we would of been aware of something happening but needed more information, that could be a situation where torture is needed. But just like here in the United States it is wrong.
I agree with what super pop said. Torture is an ancient and archaic practice that has no place in the modern world, simply because it goes against everything humanity stands for. How is a foreigner any different than an American? Are they not people? Are Americans better and cannot be terrorists? Therefore, it's OK to torture foreigners that the Army suspects have terrorist links or information, but it's wrong to torture an American that might actually be a terrorist? Granted, terrorists are not easy to crack, and there is potential to save lives by using the information obtained through torture. However, there are better ways to obtain such information and, after all, that is what the government intelligence agencies were established for- to obtain vital information from enemies, be it other countries or terrorists, by espionage, not degradation of humanity. Moreover, torture can have multiple effects on current society- the kind of effects you probably can think of on your own and doubtfully will enjoy thinking about. Just imagine the impact torture can have on society, nationwide and globally, if it is applied by the leading country in the world, the self-proclaimed “protector of human rights and liberties”, the all-mighty United States of America! In that case, you won't even be able to say "Stop the violence!" without sounding like complete hypocrites, which what is happening right now. And, just like the article suggests, why stop with a terrorist? So unless you want to one day to end up in a torture chamber somewhere in South America, screaming from the searing pain and wishing you were dead, just because you somehow have terrorist ties and maybe shouldn’t have written that anti-Bush administration post on Blogger.com, I strongly suggest you rethink your opinion.
I think that torture in any form is wrong. I don't think that any human has the right to do that to someone else. Many people in the United States feel it is ok to torture someone else if they are from a different country, but if another country did that to someone from ours, they would find it to be absolutely unacceptable. You can't just pick and choose when you can and can't use torture. Imagine if someone you cared about went to another country and was tortured because that country believed they had important information. I know I wouldn't be able to stand the thought of that, and these people that we feel are ok to torture have family out there somewhere that care about them too.
I believe that torture is morally wrong. Even if it were to retrieve vital information i think here are easily other methods of gaining it rather than resorting to torture. If we put ourselves in the position of a person being tortured, no one would agree that it is right but because we don't think about it in that sense we form these thought that its ok, as long as its not us.
I believe torture is ok when there is a purpose. If the reason for torture is get important information then the torture is valid. If we just torture just to torture or as a method of painfully killing someone, then we are in the wrong. Torture is a terrible thing and should only be used for the greater good.
In a way I agree with him about torture but then again I dont. The way Ii do is thats some people that are being torture will most likely say what it is that they need to say. For those who care less about their life, it wouldnt do any justice for them.
I personally don't agree in torture but then again torture allows you find out specific information. I think torture is okay only when necessary.
