Some women in our country believe that they are still not treated like they should be in the workplace. According to this poster a women does not make near as much as a man does for the same job. I want to know what you think. Do you believe that womens rights activists are correct when they create posters such as this? Is our economy still horribly degrading women in the workplace and society in general? Or do you believe those women activists have gone to far and have blown their ideas way out of proportion? I saw this poster about a couple of months back and actually wrote my persuasive paper about it. I want to know how everyone else feels about it and if it compares or contrasts to what i believe.

Its true that women dont get paid as much as men...when you work at places like walmart you really see it. I got paid more every paycheck when there would be women who worked there who have been working longer
Sadly it is true that women get paid less then men. I work at Best Buy and the men who sell TVs get almost $2 more an hour then the women. I think women are also treated differently in the work place. I can't even begin to count the number of times I have heard comments that could be considered sexual harassment or seen a customer just staring at the cashier's chest. Our manager treats women as if they are helpless and don't know how to do anyting on their own. It is sickening to see women being treated as less then men. I think women's rights activists have every right to make those posters and wake society up to reality. It is not ok for women to be paid less and I don't know how this kind of treatment hasn't received more notice from the government.
I am sceptical that this is true. I would like to see some data to prove this. There are many variables that determine how much someone gets paid. Also, the data used to make that poster could be bent. For example, I know of a study that says over 70 percent of Americans support the death penalty, but this study was done in Texas so the results are bent. From my own experiences i have never encountered a man getting paid more for doing the exact same job as a woman.
I have never heard about the gender role in the amount of salary before, though I do know about discrimination in the workplace. This poster is obviously designed to stir the reader’s feelings on this controversial issue. Since women are still sometimes discriminated against, it is possible that women receive lower pay for the same amount of work than men. First, however, I would also like to see how big and diversified this study was IF it took place at all.
I do believe that women do make less than men, but only in certain cases. Not all jobs discriminate when it comes to wages. As a former employee of Jewel-Osco both males and females were paid the same amount and the earnings were based on your position. I won't ignore that other jobs might discriminate job payments based on gender but I will stand by my thought that it doesn't exist in every workplace. I do believe that women rights activists should continue to post posters like this because they are just stating the reality that we live in though it doesn't apply to everyone it is still going on.
It is just a fact that women get paid less than men do. It's important to point out though, that statistics may not be completely clear. Women tend to under-represented in the higher-paying job like CEOs in large companies. This could account for the pay discrepancy. Women seem to be self-selecting the jobs that tend to have lower pay like teachers, admin assistants, etc. instead of the higher paying, professional jobs. Granted it's not the case all the time, but it's important to note how much research went into that statistic. Did they look at the women's wages compared to men's in the same job or did they just take the wage of women and men overall and compare?
I agree with the poster completly I had a job working at a restaurant and I started at the restaurant a year before this guy and by the second year of us working together he was getting paid more than I was for doing the same amount of work. This is often the case in a lot of jobs. But in physical jobs it's harder to prove pay unfairness because men can possibly help out more than women. I think that it really stands out more in coroporate America when Men are getting paid a lot more than women for doing the same thing.
